This
two-story, white Victorian home is located at 922
Church Street and is just across the street from
Honesdale's beautiful Central Park. This house was
the boyhood home of Honesdale native Dick Smith
who wrote the renowned holiday classic, "Winter
Wonderland". Smith said that the enchanting
snows that blanketed his beloved Pocono Mountains
every year were his inspiration for the song. Smith's
view of a beautiful snow covered Central Park, right
across the street from his boyhood home, also probably
contributed to Smith's inspiration. Smith's musical
gift to the world remains one of the most memorable
songs in American history. |
